The purpose of this paper was to introduce the basic concepts, calculation methods, two examples, and the implementation of calculations using SAS software related to two classes of Fisher linear discriminant analysis. The basic concepts included linear discriminant function, Fisher discriminant analysis, covariance matrix, discriminant criterion, and classification rules; the calculation methods involved problem setting, discriminant criterion, construction of linear discriminant functions, and classification rules; the two examples consisted of data from "the measurement results of three quantitative indicators in 22 patients with a certain disease in early and late stages" and "the measurement results of two quantitative indicators in 24 families"; using SAS software, Fisher linear discriminant analysis was performed on the data from the two examples, and the SAS output results were interpreted. |
