| Post-stroke depression (PSD) is a common and debilitating complication following stroke, significantly hindering the recovery process and adversely affecting the quality of life of stroke patients, while also contributing to increased mortality rates. Despite a growing understanding of PSD, numerous challenges persist in its management. This article offers a comprehensive review of the risk factors, pathophysiological mechanisms, assessment methods and treatment strategies for post-stroke depression, to provide a theoretical foundation for the early clinical identification and targeted treatment of PSD. The aim is to enhance the rehabilitation and therapeutic outcomes of stroke patients. A total of 14 original articles were included, systematically analyzing the genetic factors, neurobiological factors, immunological factors, and psychosocial factors influencing post-stroke depression, providing a reference for a deeper understanding of post-stroke depression and the development of comprehensive treatment strategies. |
