Methods In this study, 68 patients diagnosed with panic disorder were randomly divided into two groups within 34 patients each group. The study group were administered with escitalopram while control group treated with clomipramine, both lasted for 10 weeks. , The efficacy was evaluated by PASS and HAMA. and the safety was assessed in terms of TESS before and 1,2,4,6,8,10weeks after treatment respectively. Results The PASS scores and HAMA scores were significantly declined after treatment ( P 〈 0.01 ). The ef- fective rates of escitalopram group and elomipramine group were 87.5% and 81.3%, the two groups showed no significant difference from X2 test ( P 〉 0.05 ). The TESS scores of escitalopram group and clomipramine group were ( 2.78 ± 1.03 ) and ( 4.07 ± 2.89 ) , which were significant difference between two groups by t - test (P 〈 0.05).
