Objective To explore the care process of mental disorder patients by family members during hospitalization, and to provide reference for improving the hospital layout and care process. Methods With the interactive mode of qualitative research design, observation was conducted in the inpatient ward. A total of 8 family members, patients and medical staff were selected for in-depth interviews, and the information was integrated and described with category analysis and situation analysis. Results Based on the Bio-ecological Theory, analysis showed that the care process of family members for patients with mental disorders in hospital was a special re-socialization process, in which family members could enhance their understanding of the disease, adjust and adapt to the role of caregiver, and adapt to the hospitalization environment. Conclusion Family members, medical staff and society should work together to create a better environment for family members to participate in the care process more clearly and actively.
